Archival footage shot by an amateur filmmaker while visiting Canada in 1976.
It contains stock footage of Thetford Mines, a city that has one of the world’s largest asbestos-producing mining facilities: the city welcome sign, panoramas of the city, panoramas of the asbestos quarry, plants with black smoke coming out the cimineries, and more.
The plants closed in 2012, due to the ban of asbestos in many countries starting from the 1980s and the decrease in demand.
